Workshop Manager
Area: East Rand
Salary package: Highly negotiable depending on qualifications and experience
Introduction
The Workshop Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the workshop, by leading a team, and ensuring all vehicles are maintained efficiently and safely. The role focuses on planning maintenance, minimizing downtime, managing costs, and maintaining high operational and safety standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule and prioritize preventative and breakdown maintenance
- Implement maintenance strategies to minimize downtime
- Monitor job progress and ensure adherence to deadlines
- Manage maintenance and repairs for Heavy trucks, trailers, LDVs and vehicles
- Diagnose complex mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronic faults
- Develop and manage preventative maintenance programs
- Lead, mentor and supervise mechanics, technicians and apprentices
- Ensure full compliance with occupational health and safety regulations
- Manage workshop budget and control maintenance costs
- Maintain critical spare parts inventory
- Maintain detailed maintenance records and service logs
- Manage personnel: Schedules, Leave, and all other parameters
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Grade 12 - Senior Certificate
- Qualified trade tested Diesel Mechanic
- Minimum 8-10 years' supervisory and management experience in truck maintenance workshop
- Strong knowledge of: Hydraulic systems, Diesel engines, and all related systems
- Strong knowledge of Trucks and Bakkies, Auto Electrical & Workshop Financial Management processes.
- Valid driver's license (Code 10/14 advantageous).
- Must be assertive, demonstrate high integrity, be outgoing and resilient.
- Must be decisive and self-motivated.
- Good communication skills, innovative thinking, strong conceptual and analytical abilities.
- Proficiency in Excel and strong attention to detail.
