WebSphere Application Server Specialist

About the position

Job Description,


The request is for a senior WAS Administrator, with on-the-job experience in WAS Installations, Configurations, Troubleshooting and day-to-day administration of the WAS deployment.


Required Expertise may include:

• Expertise in performing Product installs on disparate Operating Systems, configuration, clustering, problem determination, and administration of WAS/IHS 6.x,7.0,8.x/9.x on AIX, Linux, Windows servers operating systems 


• Installation and configuration of  IBM HTTP Server6.x,7.0/8.0/8.5/9.x. 


• Deploying applications and maintaining them on Websphere Application Server. 


• Applying fixpacks and ifixes on WAS. 


• Migration or Upgrade experience between WAS versions.


• Creating and managing certificates (SSL) and installation on WAS, IHS and Apache. 


• Working with tools like Dynatrace to troubleshoot issues with WAS and applications deployed on WAS.


• Creating Shell scripts and automating them


• Excellent written and verbal communications skills 


• Ability to work after-hours and weekends when required.

Below are not required, but will be an added advantage:

• Jenkins/Hudson (or a similar platform) Continuous Integration Server – Installation, Configuration, Design and Administration, plus experience of extending and integrating these tools with other systems, platforms. 


• Installation and Configuration of Ansible on servers. 


• Good working experience in Maven build tool, Subversion and GIT Version control tools 


• Continuous Integration setup. Configuring multiple build jobs, integrating test cases, creating distributed build environments using Master/Slave concept, performing plug-in management, Backup. etc. in Jenkins.


• Experience in setting up the build and deployment automation for Terraform scripts using Jenkins.
