Web Designer at Torga Optical

About the position

Torga Optical is currently looking for a Web Designer who will be able to communicate Torga Optical's points of difference and increase traffic to stores and online sales by implementing original web design ideas.
Work with the marketing team to help write the copy and create the graphics to be used in the layouts. Test website functionality across different devices and user experience flows. Find and remove friction in eConmmerce experiences. Optimize pages for mobile and SEO.

We have a flat organizational structure in Torga Optical. We don't work in Silos in Torga Optical - you must have the personal skills to co-operate with the broader team to understand the content or functionality needed and to execute it correctly in to an attractive web design.

As Web Designer at Torga Optical you will work on a high traffic, high visibility eCommerce website across multiple markets (South Africa, Europe, Australia), so your work will be highly visible and impactful across our business. You will also be involved in related IT projects including our Virtual Try On platform and online bookings platform amongst others.

Good knowledge of CSS/HTML. Basic knowledge of Javascript. Basic copywriting skills. Basic Photoshop / image manipulation skills (to work efficiently with the graphic designers on the team and optimize images for web). Knowledge of SEO & Web best practices. Experience with eCommerce platform administration such as Wordpress/Magento/Nopcommerce. Knowledge of setting up development environments for website testing. Basic knowledge of Windows IIS server. Website plugin installation and testing.
