About the position
Overview:
Our client, a boutique investment advisory and wealth management firm, is seeking a Wealth Manager Assistant to join them at their Somerset West branch. With over R30 billion in assets under advice, the firm delivers global best-of-breed investment advice to institutional and corporate investors, as well as financial planning and wealth management solutions to personal and family office clients.
With branches in Somerset West, Stellenbosch and Johannesburg, they serve clients across the Western Cape and Gauteng. The core advisory team has worked together for more than a decade, bringing deep expertise and long-standing stability to the firm, with an average of 13 years of investment experience per team member.
Responsibilities:
- Provide excellent client service through effective communication (verbal, written and in-person client interactions)
- Provide client centric administrative support to the Financial / Investment Advisors within the team, including handling of follow-up correspondence with clients, beneficiaries and third-party providers
- Collation of all necessary documentation relating to administration of investment instructions, payments and client accounting, preparation and capturing of same on internal systems
- Accountable for electronic and hard copy filing relating to investment administration; and advisory record keeping as stipulated by FAIS and FICA, and ensuring that all investment and payment instructions are compliant
- Attend to and resolve all queries directly with clients, building relationships and understanding their service requirements
- Maintenance of Client Relationship Management System
- Collation of all client monthly and quarterly reporting
- General secretarial support: typing, filing, etc. of client correspondence
- Preparation, collation and distribution of Quarter end statements
- Reception responsibilities, diary management and travel arrangements
- Liaison with service providers on various platforms (including Ninety One, Glacier, Discovery, Investec Wealth and Investments)
Requirements:
- Role is ideally suited to applicants with previous Wealth Management administrative experience specifically dealing with investment administration instructions and follow-ups, with a minimum of 3-5 years’ proven track record experience in this area
- Previous unit trust knowledge, and investment/ life/ offshore experience will be an advantage
- Mathematics or accounting at matric level
- Bookkeeping diploma an advantage
- MS Office suite and Excel at an intermediate level
- Typing speed: 50+ wpm
- Ability to work independently, attention to detail and excellent organizational skills, including problem solving and initiative
