About the position
An exciting opportunity is available for a Water Balance Modeller / Hydrologist to join our client's growing specialist team in Pretoria. This role is suited to a technically minded professional who is passionate about integrated water resource management and enjoys solving complex hydrological challenges within the mining industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and refine integrated water balance models using GoldSim.
- Analyse rainfall-runoff processes, groundwater recharge, and surface water systems.
- Develop water quality and salinity models to support environmental and operational objectives.
- Conduct hydrological assessments and catchment modelling for mining projects.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and modelling documentation for clients and regulators.
- Perform site inspections and gather field data to validate model assumptions.
- Support multidisciplinary project teams with technical water resource expertise.
- Ensure modelling outputs align with project objectives and environmental requirements.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant engineering or environmental discipline.
- 3-5 years' experience in hydrology, water resources, or integrated water management.
- Practical experience in catchment hydrology and water balance modelling.
- Mining sector experience is advantageous.
- SACNASP or ECSA registration, or progression towards professional registration, will be beneficial.
- Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel when required.
