Position Summary
The Warehouse Supervisor / Manager is responsible for the overall management of the profile warehouse, ensuring the efficient receipt, storage, handling, cutting and distribution of aluminium profiles, steel, packaging materials and related inventory to support production operations.
This role combines warehouse management, inventory control, production planning and team supervision. The successful candidate will ensure accurate stock control, optimise material utilisation, minimise waste, maintain high safety standards and support the continuous improvement of warehouse processes.
Due to the technical nature of the role, a high level of computer literacy, numerical ability and attention to detail is essential. The role requires the use of an in-house optimisation system to calculate cutting requirements and maximise material usage. Training will be provided on company-specific systems; however, candidates must already possess strong general computer skills and be comfortable working with technology.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a warehouse supervisory or management role.
- Experience within manufacturing, engineering, aluminium, steel (non-negotiable)
- Proven inventory and stock control experience.
- Experience supervising warehouse staff.
- Strong computer literacy and confidence using business software
Key Responsibilities
Warehouse Operations
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the profile warehouse.
- Ensure the warehouse operates efficiently, safely and in accordance with company procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment at all times.
- Control warehouse access and ensure only authorised personnel enter operational areas.
- Direct visitors to the appropriate departments including Reception, Receiving and Dispatch.
Receiving and Inventory Management
- Receive deliveries of aluminium profiles, steel, packaging cores and other length materials.
- Verify incoming deliveries against purchase orders and supplier delivery notes.
- Inspect materials for quality, quantity and damage.
- Record all incoming stock accurately within the company's inventory system.
- Organise and store inventory safely and efficiently.
- Maintain accurate stock records and ensure inventory integrity.
- Monitor inventory levels and identify stock requiring replenishment.
- Raise purchase requisitions for locally sourced materials.
- Assist with planning and preparation for imported container shipments.
- Identify obsolete, slow-moving or excess stock for possible clearance or disposal.
Material Planning and Cutting Operations
- Receive, prioritise and schedule production job cards.
- Determine the most efficient stock selection for each production job.
- Utilise the company's optimisation software to maximise material yield and minimise waste.
- Accurately cut aluminium profiles and other materials according to production specifications.
- Ensure all cut materials meet quality and dimensional requirements.
- Record all material usage against production jobs.
- Track waste, remnants and offcuts accurately.
- Identify reusable offcuts and ensure they are measured, labelled and stored correctly.
- Manage scrap materials and coordinate recycling or disposal.
Production Support
- Prepare cut materials for powder coating.
- Generate powder coating purchase orders where required.
- Record and track all materials transferred to production.
- Ensure production departments receive materials on time to prevent operational delays.
- Work closely with the Production Manager to prioritise workloads and meet production schedules.
Equipment and Facility Management
- Ensure all warehouse machinery, cutting equipment, welding equipment and tools are maintained in good working order.
- Report maintenance requirements promptly.
- Coordinate preventative maintenance where necessary.
- Recommend improvements to warehouse equipment, storage systems and operational processes.
Health, Safety and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all company Health and Safety policies and procedures.
- Promote safe work practices throughout the warehouse.
- Maintain safe storage methods for all materials.
- Conduct regular housekeeping to eliminate hazards.
- Ensure warehouse equipment is operated safely and correctly.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve warehouse efficiency and productivity.
- Recommend improvements to shelving layouts, storage systems and workflow.
- Reduce material waste through effective planning and optimisation.
- Assist in implementing best practices across warehouse operations.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Supervise the warehouse and profile cutting operation.
- Allocate daily work and monitor performance.
- Ensure work is completed accurately and within required timeframes.
