Warehouse Supervisor
Location: Cape Town
Job Overview:
The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for the effective coordination and management of all stock movements, inbound and outbound, while leading the stores team and company drivers to ensure accurate, timely, and efficient operations. This role ensures stock is received, stored, and dispatched in line with operational requirements, while maintaining high standards of accuracy, compliance, and safety. The Warehouse Supervisor plays a key role in optimising warehouse workflows, ensuring internal and external customer satisfaction, and supporting cross-functional collaboration with procurement, logistics, and production teams.
Stock Inbound and Outbound Management (Import/Export):
- Oversee all goods receiving activities, ensuring stock is checked, recorded, and stored correctly upon arrival.
- Manage the dispatch process, ensuring orders are picked, packed, and delivered accurately and on time.
- Coordinate closely with procurement and logistics teams to ensure stock availability and alignment with production or project timelines.
- Maintain accurate inventory records through routine cycle counts, reconciliations, and stock audits.
- Implement clear procedures for handling discrepancies, damages, and returns.
Stores Staff and Driver Supervision:
- Lead, schedule, and supervise stores personnel and drivers to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide ongoing training to ensure team members follow SOPs and safety protocols.
- Ensure drivers are assigned effectively to meet delivery and collection needs while managing vehicle use efficiently.
- Promote accountability and a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
Process and Operational Efficiency:
- Develop and enforce efficient workflows for receiving, storing, picking, and dispatching stock.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes and reduce handling time or stock errors.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve operational issues and drive performance improvements.
- Keep SOPs up to date and aligned with operational needs and system updates.
Facility, Equipment & Vehicle Oversight:
- Ensure all storage areas are clean, well-organized, and optimized for safety and efficiency.
- Oversee the use, inspection, and maintenance of warehouse equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks).
- Manage company vehicles, including driver allocation, maintenance schedules, and compliance with road and safety regulations.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; further training in logistics, warehousing, or supply chain preferred.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in warehouse and stock control operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
- Proven experience managing drivers and stores staff in a fast-paced operational environment.
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in warehouse and inventory management systems (e.g., SAP, Sage, or similar).
- Strong understanding of stock control procedures, dispatch logistics, and health & safety practices.
- Working knowledge of warehouse equipment and vehicle fleet management.
