About the position
The Inventory Controller is responsible for maintaining accurate stock records, ensuring optimal inventory levels, and supporting efficient warehouse and supply chain operations. The role focuses on stock integrity, cycle counts, variance investigation, and reporting to minimize losses and ensure product availability.
Warehouse Inventory Controller
Location: Cape Town (Parow)
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Grade 12 (Advantageous)
- Qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain, Inventory Management, or Finance (advantageous)
Experience
- 2–4 years’ experience in inventory control or stock management
- Experience in warehouse, distribution, retail, FMCG, or manufacturing environments preferred
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Control
- Monitor and maintain accurate inventory levels across all locations
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly cycle counts and full stock takes
- Investigate, reconcile, and report stock variances
- Ensure correct bin locations, batch control, and FIFO/FEFO principles
Systems & Data Management
- Capture and update inventory movements on WMS/ERP systems
- Ensure all receipts, issues, transfers, and adjustments are accurately recorded
- Generate inventory reports and analysis for management
- Maintain accurate master data (item codes, units of measure, locations)
Operational Support
- Liaise with warehouse, procurement, production, and dispatch teams
- Support receiving and dispatch processes to ensure stock accuracy
- Identify slow-moving, obsolete, or short-dated stock
- Assist with demand planning and replenishment where required
Loss Prevention & Compliance
- Identify risks contributing to shrinkage, damage, or expiry
- Support internal and external audits
- Ensure adherence to company procedures and stock control policies
- Recommend process improvements to enhance stock accuracy and efficiency
Skills & Competencies
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficient in WMS/ERP systems and MS Excel
- Good problem-solving and investigative skills
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Other Requirements
- Willingness to work extended hours during stock takes
