WAREHOUSE CONTROLLER to be based in Parow Industria, Cape Town
Our client, a proudly South African sleep and rest specialist, offers a curated range of mattresses, sleep systems, and accessories designed to improve quality of rest. By combining innovative sleep technology, expert guidance, and thoughtfully selected products, they help their customers find the right sleep solution the first time.
They are looking for a detail-driven and proactive WAREHOUSE CONTROLLER to manage and optimise the day-to-day operations of their warehouse.
This role is key to ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and safety across all activities - from shipping and receiving to inventory management.
You will play an important role in maintaining optimal stock levels, improving warehouse layout, and supporting operational targets, ultimately helping them deliver on their promise of better rest for every customer.
THE MINIMUM NON-NEGOTIABLE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE ARE:
- Matric/Grade 12 or equivalent qualification, WITH at least 3 years experience in a warehouse or distribution environment
- Demonstrated ability to drive operational processes and improvements, WITH proven experience in effectively managing teams
- Experience working with warehouse management systems/software (WMS), inventory management, and order fulfilment systems, including the ability to manage and track stock accurately across systems
- Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements and regulations, AND experience with ensuring compliance within a warehouse environment
- Willing and able to work Monday to Saturday, with reliable transport or the ability to commute to work without hassle.
WILL ALSO COUNT HIGHLY IN YOUR FAVOUR IF YOU HAVE:
- A relevant qualification in warehousing, distribution management, logistics, or similar
DUTIES WILL INCLUDE:
- Managing the day-to-day activities of a low-volume, medium-paced warehouse operation, overseeing all aspects of warehouse operations, and managing warehouse and distribution teams
- Overseeing daily warehouse activities, including shipping and receiving, inventory management, and order fulfillment
- Ensuring safety compliance with all OSHA and company regulations
- Implementing warehouse policies, procedures, and safety protocols
- Reviewing existing warehouse policies, procedures, and safety protocols, and improving them
- Ensuring warehouse KPIs are met
- Optimizing warehouse layout and organization, leveraging space and handling for maximum efficiency
- Analyzing inventory levels to prevent stockouts, managing replenishment activities, and minimizing excess inventory
- Maintaining positive relationships with retail stores, warehouse and distribution teams, suppliers, vendors, and customers to ensure seamless and efficient shipping and receiving operations
- Managing and developing a team of warehouse and distribution associates, providing training and guidance to maximize performance while maintaining a positive work environment
