An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced, passionate, and guest-focused Waiter/Waitress to join a luxury hospitality team. This role is ideal for an individual who is passionate about exceptional service, fine dining, wine, and creating memorable guest experiences. The successful candidate will deliver warm, professional, and discreet service while maintaining the highest five-star hospitality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome and serve guests with warmth, professionalism, and attention to detail.
- Deliver a seamless fine dining experience by understanding and executing the full sequence of service.
- Anticipate guest needs and provide personalised service throughout the dining experience.
- Maintain accurate knowledge of table allocations, dietary requirements, allergies, and special requests.
- Communicate guest dietary requirements and allergies effectively with the kitchen team.
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the food and wine menus to confidently guide and advise guests.
- Recommend dishes, wines, cocktails, and beverages while confidently upselling menu offerings.
- Accommodate reasonable non-menu guest requests where possible.
- Handle guest feedback and complaints professionally, escalating where required.
- Remain informed of daily events, functions, and special occasions.
- Clear, clean, and reset tables to luxury hospitality standards.
- Assist with polishing cutlery, glassware, and maintaining service areas.
- Participate in stock takes and replenish bar and fridge stock using FIFO principles.
- Assist with the setup and service of events, including conferences, picnics, braais, and private functions.
- Process guest transactions accurately using the POS system (Easipos or similar).
Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years' waitering experience in a high-end fine dining environment (hotel restaurant experience advantageous).
- Excellent knowledge of wines, cocktails, spirits, and beverage service.
- Experience using POS systems (Easipos preferred).
- Strong upselling ability and commercial awareness.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong time management skills and attention to detail.
- Guest-focused mindset with excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment.
