Our client in the private healthcare sector, is currently seeking to appoint a qualified and experienced Unit Manager (theatre). This role presents an excellent opportunity for a dynamic nursing professional to lead and manage a multidisciplinary team in delivering high-quality patient care.
Job Description:
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to delivering high-quality patient care, with a focus on risk reduction.
- Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Proficient in computer use, with the ability to manage and interpret statistical data.
- Provides health education and guidance to patients and their families.
- Oversees and supports the orientation and supervision of junior staff and student nurses.
- Participates in and conducts educational rounds with junior team members and students.
- Maintains high energy levels and can function effectively under pressure.
- Capable of delivering both basic and advanced nursing care independently.
- Delegates responsibilities appropriately to ensure smooth unit operations.
- Manages unit staff in line with Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA) and internal HR policies.
- Displays strong clinical skills and competence.
- Excellent organizational, planning, and workload management abilities.
- Skilled in analyzing problems, implementing solutions, and maintaining accurate records.
- Flexible and effective in both team-based and independent working environments.
- Exhibits strong leadership qualities with a keen attention to detail, particularly in stock control.
- Acts as a key liaison between medical staff, patients, and hospital personnel.
- Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills across all professional levels.
- Demonstrates the ability to make sound, critical clinical decisions.
- Willing and able to work after-hours, including weekends, as required by operational needs.
Job Requirements:
- Must be currently registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Registered Nurse.
- Proven experience as a Unit Manager or in a relevant leadership role within a healthcare setting.
- At least 5 years of experience in a similar clinical environment.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and administrative skills.
- Demonstrated leadership and mentoring abilities.
- Proficient in maintaining accurate records and managing medical supplies effectively.
- Dedicated to driving continuous improvement initiatives within the unit.
- Competent in using Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Familiarity with the Kronos Workforce Management System is advantageous.
