Unit Manager - Surgical Ward

About the position

Our client is seeking an experienced Unit Manager to lead a busy Surgical Ward in the Western Cape. This opportunity is ideal for a motivated nursing professional with strong leadership abilities, sound clinical knowledge, and a passion for delivering exceptional patient care while ensuring the efficient management of the unit.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the daily operations of the Surgical Ward
• Ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centred nursing care
• Supervise, mentor, and develop the nursing team to achieve operational excellence
• Promote clinical governance, infection prevention, and quality improvement initiatives
• Coordinate staffing, resources, and stock management to support efficient unit operations
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to optimise patient outcomes
• Ensure compliance with healthcare legislation, hospital policies, and professional standards

Minimum Requirements:

• Degree or Diploma in Nursing
• Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
• Relevant nursing experience to meet the critical outputs of the role
• Proven leadership and people management skills will be advantageous
• Basic understanding of labour legislation, financial management, and supply chain management principles
• Understanding of the private healthcare industry, its challenges, and key role players will be advantageous
• Computer proficiency
