About the position
An exciting leadership opportunity is available for an experienced PICU nursing professional to oversee a specialised Paediatric Intensive Care Unit in Pretoria. This role is ideal for a clinically accomplished Unit Manager with a passion for paediatric critical care, strong leadership capabilities, and a commitment to delivering outstanding patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide operational and clinical leadership within the PICU.
- Manage and develop the nursing team to ensure high standards of patient care.
- Ensure compliance with clinical governance, infection prevention, and healthcare legislation.
- Oversee patient safety, quality improvement, and risk management initiatives.
- Coordinate staffing, resource allocation, and unit performance.
- Monitor clinical outcomes and implement continuous improvement strategies.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient care.
- Support staff development, mentoring, and performance management
Minimum Requirements:
- Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
- Degree or Diploma in Nursing.
- Postgraduate Qualification in Critical Care Nursing Science.
- Postgraduate Qualification in Nursing Administration, Nursing Management, or Nursing Education.
- Previous Unit Manager experience within a PICU environment, or Paediatric Unit Management experience with NICU exposure (or vice versa).
- Sound knowledge of paediatric critical care nursing and clinical governance.
- Demonstrated leadership and people management experience.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and decision-making skills.
