Unit Manager - Operating Theatre

About the position

Our client is seeking an experienced Unit Manager to lead a busy Operating Theatre. This opportunity is ideal for a theatre-trained nursing professional with strong clinical expertise, leadership skills, and a passion for delivering safe, high-quality perioperative care while ensuring the efficient management of the unit.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the daily clinical and operational management of the Operating Theatre
• Lead, mentor, and support the theatre nursing team to maintain high standards of patient care
• Coordinate theatre schedules, staffing, and resource allocation
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention, clinical governance, and theatre protocols
• Monitor stock, equipment, and consumables to ensure operational efficiency
• Collaborate with surgeons, anaesthetists, and the multidisciplinary team to optimise theatre performance
• Promote continuous quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Minimum Requirements:

• Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
• Degree or Diploma in Nursing
• Postgraduate qualification in Operating Theatre Nursing
• Previous Operating Theatre experience
• Previous Shift Leading or Unit Management experience
• Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills
