Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Underwriter II: Personal Lines to join their team in Bellville. This is an excellent opportunity for a personal lines underwriter who is passionate about risk assessment and committed to delivering exceptional client service in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities
Underwriting Standards & Client Service

• Issue new policies, renewals, and endorsements on the C360 System
  
  
• Prepare new business quotes
  
  
• Underwrite in accordance with standards, policies, and procedures
  
  
• Support the sales team in acquiring and retaining profitable business
  
  
• Attend to administrative tasks and written communication
  
  
• Ensure all documentation is accurate, processed correctly, and authorised prior to dispatch
  
  
• Resolve queries in line with company standards
  
  
• Negotiate renewal terms and prepare relevant documentation
  
  
• Complete renewal reviews timeously and calculate retentions
  
  
• Request and monitor surveys and ensure compliance with survey requirements
  
  
• Identify and correct unprofitable policies
  
  
• Ensure policies are not overexposed
  
  
• Perform policy checks before dispatching to clients
  
  
• Handle telephonic queries and amendments from clients
  
  
• Save all work electronically
  
  

Service Delivery

• Maintain service, quality, and outputs by ensuring compliance with procedures and standards
  
  
• Resolve escalated customer queries and complaints, providing timely feedback
  
  
• Develop work routines aligned with operational plans to meet service goals
  
  
• Share knowledge and contribute to the development of new standards and procedures
  
  

People Practices

• Align with the organisation's culture and values
  
  
• Transfer product, process, and system knowledge to peers
  
  
• Collaborate with the underwriting team to meet service level requirements

Requirements

• A recognised NQF Level 5 qualification in Short-Term Insurance
  
  
• Successful completion of Regulatory Exam Level 1 (RE1)
  
  
• At least 4 years of experience in personal lines underwriting
  
  
• Certification in the Personal Lines Class of Business
  
  
• Valid DOFA confirmation as issued by the FSCA
  
  
• Proficiency in relevant underwriting systems and tools will be advantageous
