Relief Travel Specialist - Luxury Safari Travel
- Location: Hybrid - Cape Town, Pinelands
- Salary: R25,000 - R45,000 per month, depending on experience
- Contract: Full-time, permanent

This is a rare opportunity to join a leading, award-winning luxury safari brand as a Relief Travel Specialist. This is not a standard consulting position. It is designed for a confident, service-driven individual who thrives under pressure, enjoys stepping into different desks and regions, and is eager to make an impact across the team.
As the Relief Travel Specialist, you will provide essential support by covering desks when consultants are away, assisting during peak periods, and managing educational and hosted bookings. You will be trusted with full responsibility, creative freedom, and access to a broad portfolio of exclusive products and regions across Southern and East Africa.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take full ownership of consultant desks during periods of leave or absence, including managing active bookings, requotes, and proposals
- Design and cost bespoke luxury itineraries, working directly with international agents and preferred suppliers
- Support and coordinate educational trips in close collaboration with the sales team
- Assist with loading bookings and following up on provisional files during high-volume periods
- Follow up on inactive or dormant leads to help convert outstanding business
- Participate in testing and improving internal systems and processes
- Work within an early and late shift rotation, as well as rotating emergency duty
- Collaborate openly with colleagues while managing your responsibilities independently
Required Experience and Skills:
- Minimum of three to five years of previous experience in inbound tour consulting, preferably within luxury or tailor-made African travel
- Strong working knowledge of Southern and East Africa destinations
- Proficiency in Tourplan, WETU, and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Excellent understanding of supplier terms, travel conditions, and the sales process
- Ability to communicate professionally and clearly with agents, suppliers, and colleagues
- Commercial awareness and the ability to make strategic decisions when needed
- Proven track record of delivering service excellence under pressure
