About the position

We are seeking a highly experienced and driven Training Manager (Operations) to lead the recruitment, development, and operational readiness of field-based teams.

This role is critical in ensuring full compliance with firearm legislation, operational standards, and driver safety requirements within a high-risk, fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate will take ownership of all training, compliance, and operational readiness functions. You will play a key role in ensuring that all field staff are fully equipped, certified, and aligned with industry regulations and best practices.

?? Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end recruitment, selection, and onboarding of field staff
  • Design and deliver training programs (operational, firearms, and driver training)
  • Maintain full control and auditing of firearms and ammunition in line with the Firearms Control Act
  • Oversee firearm competency, certification, and re-certification processes
  • Implement driver training initiatives (defensive driving, road safety, incident prevention)
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date training, licensing, and compliance records
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory standards (SAPS and PSIRA)
  • Conduct audits, inspections, and incident investigations
  • Drive continuous improvement in safety, compliance, and operational readiness

? Minimum Requirements

  • 5-10 years' experience in security, law enforcement, or operational training
  • Valid firearm competency (all firearm types)
  • PSIRA registration (minimum Grade B)
  • Accredited firearms instructor certification (essential)
  • Strong knowledge of firearm legislation and compliance requirements
  • Proven experience in recruitment and staff development
  • Valid driver's license (defensive/advanced driving advantageous)
  • Strong leadership, communication, and facilitation skills
