About the position
We are seeking a highly experienced and driven Training Manager (Operations) to lead the recruitment, development, and operational readiness of field-based teams.
This role is critical in ensuring full compliance with firearm legislation, operational standards, and driver safety requirements within a high-risk, fast-paced environment.
The successful candidate will take ownership of all training, compliance, and operational readiness functions. You will play a key role in ensuring that all field staff are fully equipped, certified, and aligned with industry regulations and best practices.
?? Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end recruitment, selection, and onboarding of field staff
- Design and deliver training programs (operational, firearms, and driver training)
- Maintain full control and auditing of firearms and ammunition in line with the Firearms Control Act
- Oversee firearm competency, certification, and re-certification processes
- Implement driver training initiatives (defensive driving, road safety, incident prevention)
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date training, licensing, and compliance records
- Ensure adherence to regulatory standards (SAPS and PSIRA)
- Conduct audits, inspections, and incident investigations
- Drive continuous improvement in safety, compliance, and operational readiness
? Minimum Requirements
- 5-10 years' experience in security, law enforcement, or operational training
- Valid firearm competency (all firearm types)
- PSIRA registration (minimum Grade B)
- Accredited firearms instructor certification (essential)
- Strong knowledge of firearm legislation and compliance requirements
- Proven experience in recruitment and staff development
- Valid driver's license (defensive/advanced driving advantageous)
- Strong leadership, communication, and facilitation skills
