About the position
DESCRIPTION/SYNOPSYS:
This reputable manufacturing company in Cape Town are looking for an experienced Toolmaker for their new operational plant in Cape Town. This key role will responsible for creating and maintaining precision tools, molds, dies and fixtures used in manufacturing processes while utilizing advanced machining techniques and engineering principles to ensure the production of high-quality components and products.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Matric / Grade 12
- Minimum N3 in Mechanical Engineering with relevant trade theory
- Completed apprenticeship (minimum 18 months) in Tool, Jig & Die Making
- Proficient in CAD/CAM software
- Skilled in operating CNC machines, lathes, milling machines, and surface grinders
- Strong understanding of technical drawings and specifications
- Problem-solving mindset with excellent troubleshooting ability
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Knowledge of safety regulations and manufacturing best practices
- Effective team leadership and communication skills
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Tool Design: Collaborate with engineers and designers to develop and refine tool designs using 2D and 3D CAD/CAM software.
- Tool Manufacturing: Operate advanced machining equipment, including CNCs, lathes, milling machines, and grinders, to produce high-precision components.
- Material Selection: Choose appropriate materials to ensure tool durability and performance.
- Quality Control: Conduct thorough inspections to guarantee tools meet all specifications and tolerances.
- Tool Maintenance & Repair: Maintain existing tools and perform necessary sharpening, adjustments, and repairs.
- Process Optimization: Continuously identify opportunities to improve tooling processes for greater efficiency and quality.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve tooling issues that may impact production timelines.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of tool designs, modifications, and maintenance history.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, machinists, and other manufacturing personnel to ensure seamless tool integration into the production process.
- Safety: Adhere to safety protocols and promote a safe working environment within the toolmaking department.
