About the position
- Setting up of tools/ change carbide in CNC's when required.
- Create programs as per drawing specifications /CAD Model on Edgecam and/or CNC control panel of CNC milling machine, CNC Lathe, Spark Eroder, Wire cutter.
- Undertake any off set or minor changes to program to ensure quality dies and tools.
- Ensure all programs are saved and filed at all times as per company procedures.
- Machine Dies and Tools to drawing specifications.
- Assemble die sets/ tooling/ jigs/ fixtures according to drawing.
- Ensure machine processes are running at optimum efficiency and correct speeds and feeds.
- Daily checks of min/max stock levels on dies/tooling to support production.
- Plan machining requirements in conjunction with Toolroom Supervisor / PCD.
- Ensure that measurements are conducted and recorded to ensure compliance to drawings.
- Ensure that correct FIFO and storage methods are used.
- Identify work in progress and Finished goods as to the quality standard.
- Ensure availability of die steel cut to correct size.
- Assist Forge Production/Quality on the following, as required: Setup of Dies, Setup of Tooling, Faultfinding and Corrective action to enable production to make target.
- Provide on the job training and support to apprentices / co-workers, as required
- Carry out basic maintenance on machines, fill automatic oil feeders, oil & clean slide ways, cleaning/ maintaining of machines, etc
- Checklists and Time sheets completed for all dies/ tools/ jobs manufactured / refurbished or modified, including downtime recorded.
- Inspect finished dies and tools to ensure conformity to all requirements.
- Design of jigs and fixtures when required
- Maintain machine tooling.
- Ensure that the required PPE is worn at all times.
- Timekeeping, on time at work station and not leaving workplace without permission.
- Ensure good housekeeping at work area and correct storage of dies and tools and work in progress. This include tooling/cutters/carbide/Torx tools, etc and Machining Reports
MUST be a Trade Tested Toolmaker.
