About the position

Postion Summary:
iThemba LABS seeks to appoint a Tool and Die Maker to manufacture coil components and systems to drawing specifications, maintaining dimensional tolerance accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manufacture mechanical parts according to detailed technical drawings and dimensional specificationsSet up and operate workshop machinery and equipmentDesign and manufacture jigs and fixtures to facilitate machiningPerform accurate manufacturing processesManufacturing of custom jigs and fittings according to coil forming and manufacturing needsHollow copper conductor coil forming and shaping according to stringent design constraints by making use of specially designed apparatus and jigs
• Building of moulds for resin casting of coilsAssist with coil resin casting, curing and clean-up proceduresEnsure system procedures are followed when heating and mixing the epoxy resin prior to adding it to the stirring pot

Minimum Qualification:

• Grade 12 / Senior Certificate / National Certificate / Vocational 4 /N3 N4 N5/ NQF 4

Minimum Experience:

• 3-3 years

• NQF4/NTC 4 and Trade Tested in Fitting and Turning

Experience:

• Minimum 5 years' post apprenticeship experience in a high precision and industrialized environment
• Experience in soldering and welding
• Experience with making jigs and fixtures

Knowledge:

• Operational knowledge in machining and turning
• Operational knowledge of fitting
• Demonstrated knowledge of reading technical drawings
• Operational knowledge of maintenance and repair procedures
• Proficiency in using lathes, milling machines, and other machining tools to fabricate, repair, or modify part
• Understanding of quality control & health and safety standards
