About the position
My client based in Bellville is currently looking for a Textile QA / SHEQ Manager to join their team on a contract basis.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Textile Technology or a related field
- Minimum 5 years' experience in textile/fabric quality assurance and garment production
- Strong knowledge of wet and dry garment processing techniques
- Proven leadership experience managing QA teams and vendors
- Proficiency in PLM systems, Excel, and data analysis tools
- Fluent in English and Mandarin (written and spoken) - essential
- Willingness to travel frequently to mills and factories
Responsibilities
- Implement and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS) across suppliers and mills
- Oversee annual/bi-annual audits (QMS, MCDP, sustainability) and drive corrective actions
- Conduct risk assessments on styles based on complexity and potential quality challenges
- Evaluate processes and quality standards at fabric and trim mills
- Ensure consistency in fabric quality (shrinkage, stretch, treatments) from SMS to bulk
- Approve fabric lots, wash PPS, shade bands, and bulk test reports per SOPs
- Conduct audits on both new and existing mills
- Mentor and coordinate QA teams and Vendor Quality Auditors (VQAs)
- Organise seasonal training programs for suppliers and internal teams
- Conduct regular factory visits to provide technical guidance
- Oversee inspection stages: Size Set, Inline (Sewing, Laundry, Finishing), and Pre-Shipment AQL
- Manage garment testing (GPT, RSL) for compliance with safety and quality standards
- Ensure records and inspection reports are accurately documented and uploaded to PLM systems
- Lead quarterly quality evaluations for suppliers
- Analyse audit results, recurring issues, and process gaps to drive continuous improvement
- Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership
