Test Technician - PCB (SMD & DIP)

About the position

An opportunity has become available for Test Technician at the Durban branch in New Germany.

Purpose of the position:

Provide essential services to the manufacturing environment to inspect items for defects and test them to meet specification.

Duties and Responsibilities, but not limited to:

• Responsible for testing of manufactured goods
• Ensuring materials are available for production manufacturing.
• Inspecting and testing finished products.
• Identifying problems with production or manufactured goods
• Communicating solutions for production challenges with quality assurance
• Adhering to health and safety regulations.
• Establishing preventative maintenance methods
• Analyzing machinery and tools to report faults or broken items.

Formal Education and Experience:

• Matric (Grade 12)
• Diploma in Electrical Engineering (light current) or equivalent.
• 2 or more years' experience in the same or similar role.

Required skills and competencies:

• Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively and work under pressure.
• Capable to work independently and handle multiple tasks.
• Experience with soldering and de-soldering on PCB's (SMD and DIP packages).
• Follow standard operating procedures and protocols.
• Strong understanding of electronic circuits and components.
• Electronic repairs, component level fault finding and repairs on PCB's.
• Hardware testing and verifying according to design specifications.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting technical diagrams, PCB schematics.
• Knowledge of SAP system (added advantage).
• Good communication skills, written and verbal.
• Excellent computer skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Ability to use measuring instruments.
