Tender/Construction Buyer

About the position

Our client, a reputable and well established national construction company, focused on medium to large scale building projects, seeks to employ well experienced Buyer, with a background in tender, plant and materials buying in the construction sector,  to join this progressive and expanding professional team in Johannesburg.
 
Please note that this role is not suited to candidates with a background in Civils but rather focused on building of malls, medical centres, luxury residential estates, high-rise commercial buildings and educational institutions
KEY REQUIREMENTS TO MEET FOR CONSIDERATION:
 

• You will have completed a tertiary qualification in Supply Chain Management or related field, coupled with 10+ years experience in construction and civils materials sourcing, procurement and supply chain management, as well as having good working knowledge of RFQ and tender process management.
• You will have an industry specific established networks and relationships with quarries, bitumen refineries, steel mills, concrete producers and the like, in order to expand the current field of material suppliers.
• You will have experience in tender site inspections and drafting of site reports for material sourcing purposes.
• Certification in CCS, BuildSmart and Leads 2 is essential
• You will have proven experience in negotiations with suppliers, ensuring quality materials for best prices, as well as risk planning
• You will be flexible to travel if needed, have exceptional interpersonal skills, effectively communicate at all levels, lead by example and deliver results in a high pressure environment, meeting international standards.
