About the position
Our client in the consulting engineering sector is seeking a qualified Technician / Project Manager to join their Cape Town office. This hybrid role combines civil engineering site supervision with project management, ensuring the successful delivery of infrastructure projects across both public and private sectors. The successful candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
- Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and budgets
- Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions where necessary
- Coordinate and liaise with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary internal teams
- Supervise on-site civil and building works, ensuring compliance with design and safety standards
- Conduct site inspections and condition assessments for upgrades, maintenance, and new construction
- Oversee construction activities including earthworks, sewerage systems, brickwork, and concrete works
- Implement and enforce quality assurance and compliance procedures
- Conduct material sampling/testing and ensure construction standards are met
- Issue site instructions and ensure adherence to technical specifications
- Prepare detailed progress reports, cost tracking records, and site documentation
- Calculate quantities and manage material procurement and delivery
- Ensure optimal use of resources and resolve on-site challenges effectively
Requirements:
- National Diploma in Civil Engineering.
- Tech/M.Tech in Project Management advantageous
- ECSA Candidate Engineering Technician (or eligible for registration)
- Minimum 5 years' experience in civil engineering and project management
- Proven experience in municipal infrastructure, housing developments, and building maintenance
- Strong site-based supervision and construction management experience
- Proficient in surveying, quality control, and documentation
- Skilled in MS Word, Excel, and construction reporting
- Familiar with construction safety standards and environmental compliance
- Knowledge of ECSA/SACPCMP Stage 1-6 deliverables
