About the position
Our Client, is a product-led technology company whose solutions have a valuable and positive impact on society. This company enables safety driven mobility solutions and they are in search of a skilled Technical Writer to join one of their teams based in Cape Town, Northern Suburbs.
The incumbent will collaborate daily with colleagues based in Cape Town, and with key international stakeholders. This is a hands-on role, within a collaborative environment and with meaningful cross-functional work. A key requirement is expert level business communication in addition to technical expertise.
You'll be responsible for maintaining and creating a wide range of product, platform, and process documentation which spans user guides, quick-start manuals, SOPs, proposal content, and internal training material. The role also plays a key part in supporting proposal submissions to public sector clients, so experience with RFPs and technical sales support will be important.
Some key things you'd be doing:
- Writing and formatting compelling responses to government and public-sector RFPs and RFIs
- Creating and maintaining guides and documentation for both hardware and software products
- Translating dense, technical information into content that works for a range of audiences (field techs, engineers, city officials, partners, etc.)
- Working closely with product owners, SMEs, and engineers to source and validate information
- Managing internal documentation libraries and ensuring content stays accurate, versioned, and consistent
- Using modern tools, including AI where helpful, to improve speed and quality of written content
- Contributing to internal quality and training efforts through well-structured documentation
NB: This is an in-office role based in Cape Town, Northern Suburbs
Requirements:
- Degree
- At least 3 years' experience in technical or proposal writing
- Proven experience in technical writing for both software and hardware solutions (SaaS experience a plus)
- Expert level business communication
- Solid grasp of tools such as Google Workspace, MS Office, and Adobe Acrobat
- Reliable transport
- Valid South African passport (occasional international travel forms part of the function)
- Working hours outside of normal SA-times, due to international collaboration with North American teams (required to start and end later than the regular 8/9am-5pm times)
