Overview of Position
Participation in the Development Process
- Actively participate in the software development process. Design and execute tests on applications, to verify and validate that it meets the stated requirements/specifications
- Collaborates with the software development team during the incubation phase.
- Essential communication participant in group discussion
- Involved in the software review process to assist with bug identification and presents it to the software development team.
Developing Comprehensive Testing Structures
- Bounce back and forth between being big-picture and detail-orientated
- See the big picture of a project to know the role all the features regarding the user experience
- Think as both a developer and average user to develop a testing structure that covers all bases.
Contributing to Test Planning, Monitoring & Control
- Ensure industry regulations, company standards and all types of testing are considered in the test plan.
- Effectively communicate with project stakeholders that aspects related to the test plans.
- Review test estimates with the Test Lead/Manager to ensure adequate time is budgeted for the procurement and validation of the test environment
- Contribute the measurements that make test monitoring and control possible (gather quantitative data for each test metric, making sure the data is accurate, timely and objective)
Test Analysis & Design
- Analyse the test basis (application requirements, functional specifications, URS documents, etc) and identify the test conditions
- Know what specific tests must be designed in order to meet the needs of the assigned areas of the test project
- Determine in which test areas low-level (concrete) or high-level (logical) test cases are most appropriate
- Determine the test case design technique(s) that provide the necessary test coverage
- Create test cases that exercise the identified test conditions
- Prioritisation criteria identified during risk analysis and test planning should be applied throughout the process, from analysis and design to implementation and execution
Test Implementation
- Organise tests into execution order
- Finalise test data and test environments
- Ensure that those responsible for the creation and maintenance of the test environment are known and available, and that all the test ware and test support tools and associated processes are ready for use.
Test Execution & Analysis / Documenting Results
- Execute tests according to the plan determined during test implementation
- Ensure test results are logged appropriately
- Ensure defects are logged and managed appropriately
- Analyze the results and present their findings to decision-makers
Salary Bracket
R30 000 to R40 000 per month CTC, depending on experience, qualification(s) and current / previous package
