About the position
Chemistry meets commercial strategy. Turn your technical expertise into smarter sourcing, stronger supply and measurable savings. Is this you? What you'll be doing (and why you'll enjoy it) Where you'll be doing it What you'll need What you'll get How to apply No problem, just send us what you have. We do respond to everyone! Just give us a few days to work through your application.
You're analytical, commercially minded and a negotiator by nature, but technical quality is never something you'll compromise. Comfortable working across R&D, Quality, Production and Procurement, you build strong supplier relationships, challenge costs intelligently and enjoy finding better ways to do things.
Sitting at the intersection of chemistry and strategic procurement, you'll evaluate raw materials, packaging and suppliers, review TDS, SDS and COA documentation and identify alternative materials without compromising formulation performance. You'll negotiate pricing, specifications, SLAs and terms, manage supplier performance and risk, optimise stock availability and use SAP B1 to strengthen purchasing and MRP processes. You'll enjoy seeing your technical decisions translate directly into cost savings, supply continuity and consistent quality.
Based at an established Johannesburg manufacturing operation in Alberton, you'll join a business with more than four decades of market experience. It combines manufacturing, technical expertise and national distribution with a culture centred on collaboration, agility, quality, safety and continuous improvement.
A Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, BSc Chemistry, B-Tech or Diploma in Chemistry is essential, together with at least 3 years R&D experience and strong paint/coatings chemistry and formulation knowledge. Procurement management or supervisory experience, ERP/procurement systems expertise, strong negotiation and analytical skills are required. CIPS certification and additional procurement experience are advantageous.
A senior, technically influential opportunity where you can shape sourcing strategy, supplier performance, cost optimisation and raw material innovation within an established manufacturing environment.
