About the position
Our client, operating in the health and biomedical sector, is looking for a Technical Manager to take full technical and managerial ownership of high and maximum containment laboratory facilities (BSL3 & BSL4). Keeping BSL3 & BSL4 laboratories safe, compliant and operational Managing engineering, maintenance, commissioning and re-certification Leading a biocontainment engineering team Owning CAPEX and operational budgets Overseeing HVAC, BMS, containment and decontamination systems Acting as a trusted technical authority on biosafety and biosecurity Stepping in during high-pressure situations, including outbreak support Minimum Requirements (Non-Negotiable) ?? Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering (NQF Level 7) Recognised local and international training/certification in biosafety & biosecurity 7+ years' post-qualification experience in high biocontainment laboratory environments 5+ years managing or supervising BSL3 and/or BSL4 facilities Hands-on experience with: BSL3/BSL4 commissioning and (re)certification Validation of containment systems HVAC and Building Management Systems Preventative and corrective maintenance programmes Contractor management and budgeting You'll Also Need Strong leadership, communication and reporting skills Proficiency in CMMS, CAD software and MS Office Willingness to travel locally and internationally The Bottom Line This role carries serious responsibility and real-world impact. ??
