About the position
A well-established Plastic manufacturing company in the Germiston area is looking for an experienced Plastics Technical Manager with relevant Plastic industry experience
Responsibilities
- Responsible for overall technical aspects of plastic moulding operations
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize processes, reduce costs, and enhance product quality and performance
- Manage the maintenance and repair of moulds and tooling equipment to minimize down time
- Lead the design and development of injection moulds, collaborating closely with production, toolmakers, and external vendors where relevant
- Optimize injection moulding processes to maximize production, reduce scrap rates, and improve overall efficiency
- Establish and maintain quality control procedures and standards for plastic moulding operations
- Provide technical support and expertise to production teams, troubleshooting process problems, and conducting training sessions to enhance relevant skills
- New product development via technical input, feasibility studies, and collaborating with manufacturing and maintenance teams
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry and customer standards, as well as complying with all company safety and other policies
Requirements
- Matric
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- MUST HAVE +10 years Plastic Manufacturing experience. This is NOT negotiable
- In-depth knowledge of plastic moulding processes, tooling design, materials selection, trouble shooting and quality control principles
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Able to inspire and motivate teams
- Good analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to analyse complex technical issues
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with staff and customers at all levels
- Fully computer literate - MS Office suite
- Salary is strictly dependent on qualification, skill set and relevant industry experience
