About the position
My client (FMCG) is seeking an experienced and hands-on Technical Head based in Richards Bay.
JOB PURPOSE:
To develop and implement technical strategies towards delivery of equipment, processes and systems, in order to ensure robust, reliable and safe plant operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Technology & Innovation
- Stay abreast of technological advancements in the industry.
- Formulate strategies for improvement of technical equipment, processes and systems towards robust and reliable plant operations, for further approval.
Policy & Procedure Formulation
- Compile and/or review policies and procedures.
- Monitor and ensure policy and procedure compliance.
Project Planning & Management
- Develop project plans for multiple projects and manage implementation.
- Formulate project schedules and resource allocation plans.
- Provide periodic project status updates.
- Compile and present comprehensive project reports.
- Facilitate project closure and evaluations.
Budget & Cost Control
- Formulate budgets for further approval.
- Direct expenditure and ensure budgetary compliance.
Contract Management
- Oversee negotiation and administration of contracts with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Ensure that contractors meet service level agreements.
Plant Performance, Quality, Health, Safety, Quality, Food Safety and Environmental Compliance
- Provide guidelines on plant operational objectives, conduct plant performance assessments and direct relevant actions.
- Establish and embed quality control and food safety standards.
- Ensure compliance of operations, engineering, health and safety, environment and food safety processes to local legislation and group standards.
- Manage inspections, audits, reporting and record keeping processes.
Talent Management
- Identify, build and maintain a talent pool for plant production and technical services, and manage talent appointments effectively.
QUALIFYING ATTRIBUTES:
Qualifications
- BTech, BSc or BEng Degree in Chemical Engineering with specialization in Oil Technology.
Experience
- 8 years' production plant experience
- Working experience in maintenance of health, safety and environmental process
- Working experience in management of multi-disciplinary teams
