About the position
Role Summary
The Technical Demonstrator will be the face of our clients products, responsible for performing live demonstrations of their products and equipment for a variety of audiences, including engineers, mine managers, and prospective buyers. This role requires extensive travel to mine sites, trade shows, and client offices. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on professional with a knack for translating complex technical concepts into clear, compelling presentations.
Responsibilities
- Conduct Demonstrations and Trials: Perform on-site and off-site (including underground) demonstrations and trials of products and equipment, showcasing features, benefits, and operational procedures.
- Provide Technical Expertise: Answer technical questions from clients and prospects, providing detailed explanations of product specifications, capabilities, and safety features. Conduct on-site problem-solving for clients experiencing problems when installing or using our products and equipment
- Supervise Short-Term Mining Services Contracts: Daily management of the team, equipment, materials, production and quality.
- Training & Assessment: Conduct accredited training and competency assessments for operators and technicians on the safe and efficient use of our equipment, ensuring all sessions are aligned with relevant industry standards.
- Client Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in the mining industry. Act as a trusted advisor, understanding client needs and recommending appropriate solutions.
- Feedback & Reporting: Gather feedback from demonstrations and client interactions to share with our product development and engineering teams. Prepare detailed reports on demonstration outcomes and market insights.
- Trade Shows & Events: Support or represent the company's marketing team at industry trade shows and marketing events.
Requirements
Education and Qualifications:
- Minimum Grade 12,
- Training & Assessment Certification (Must be an approved trainer and assessor, holding a valid certificate of competence from the relevant Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA), Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA).
- Competent A and Competent B in Coal and Hard Rock will be an advantage.
- Relevant professional certifications are a plus
Experience
- Previous experience in underground mining, particularly in roof support, is highly beneficial.
- Experience with operating underground vehicles would be an advantage.
- Proven experience in technical sales, product demonstration, or a field-based technical support role within the mining industry.
- A commitment to safety protocols and procedures, with an understanding of a mine site's strict safety regulations.
