Technical Buyer (Steel)

About the position

• Engineering drawings - read, comprehend and summarize raw material requirements
• Work with Engineering and Sales teams to understand equipment and material requirements
• Sourcing of raw material
• Ensure optimal pricing and conditions for purchased goods and services are attained on the company's behalf
• Confirm approval on orders from authorized signatories before processing, adhering to the delegation of authority limit
• Process purchase orders promptly within the system
• Expedite late deliveries or effectively managing ETA'S
• Stock planning and forecasting
• Supplier management
• Cost analysis by keeping track record of negotiated rates and market trends
• Monitor markets, industry movements and regulatory changes to inform team on suggested Procurement actions
• Collaborate with internal teams to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives

Qualification / Skills / Knowledge Required

• Diploma / Degree in Supply Chain
• Excellent understanding of Engineering drawings/diagrams and using them to scope material requirements
• Minimum 6 years in the Sourcing / Procurement of steel / fabricated steel
• Sound knowledge of ERP systems, Syspro will be an advantage
• Proficient with Microsoft programs
• Excellent negotiator
• Honest, dependable and punctual

• High attention to detail and diligent approach to work in any environment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Individual must have the ability to work in a fast-paced highly pressurised environment
