About the position

We are looking for a skilled Technical Business Analyst to be based in either Gauteng or Durban. This is a hybrid business analysis and project delivery role, suited to someone who can bridge the gap between business needs and technical solutions.

The successful candidate will work closely with key business units, including Procurement, Sales, Finance and Operations, to understand processes, identify pain points, document requirements, and support the delivery of IT and digital transformation projects.

Key Responsibilities

Business Analysis and Requirements Gathering

  • Engage with business units to understand and document current business processes, challenges and improvement areas.
  • Translate business needs into detailed functional and technical specifications.
  • Develop use cases, user stories, process maps and data flow diagrams.
  • Analyse current versus future state processes to identify opportunities for automation and optimisation.

Technical and Systems Analysis

  • Evaluate and document integration requirements across ERP, BI, WMS and cloud platforms.
  • Work closely with developers and systems architects to design practical, scalable solutions.
  • Validate proposed system designs against documented business requirements.
  • Support the business in improving system usage, reporting accuracy and process efficiency.

Project Management and Delivery

  • Support or lead IT project planning and execution, including scoping, scheduling and budgeting.
  • Manage small to medium-sized IT initiatives end-to-end, including reporting dashboards, workflow automations and system enhancements.
  • Track project progress, manage risks and issues, and report on key milestones.
  • Coordinate deliverables between internal teams and external vendors.

Testing and Quality Assurance

  • Define test scenarios and coordinate user acceptance testing.
  • Validate system outputs against expected business outcomes.
  • Work with QA resources to ensure issues are logged, tracked and resolved.

Change Management and Support

  • Support training and onboarding of users on new systems and processes.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for implemented tools and platforms.
  • Develop documentation, SOPs and support guides.
  • Assist users in adopting new systems and processes effectively after implementation.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Business or a related field.
  • Project management certification such as Agile, PMP or PRINCE2 would be a strong advantage.
  • 3-5+ years' experience in business analysis or systems analysis within an IT environment.
  • Experience managing or coordinating technical projects.
  • Exposure to ERP systems, databases, APIs and BI/reporting tools.
  • Experience working across operational business functions such as sales, finance, procurement or operations would be advantageous.
    Strong requirements gathering and documentation skills.
  • Experience with BPMN, UML and/or BRD documentation formats.
  • Strong SQL/data analysis skills, or exposure to tools such as Qlik, Power BI or Tableau.
  • Good understanding of SDLC and Agile methodologies.
  • Familiarity with technical integrations across ERP, BI, WMS and cloud-based platforms.
  • Confident stakeholder engagement and presentation ability.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Able to communicate effectively between technical teams and non-technical business users.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a practical, analytical and technically minded Business Analyst who can understand business operations, document requirements clearly, and work closely with technical teams to deliver solutions that improve efficiency, reporting and system performance.

This role would suit someone who enjoys working across both business and IT, can manage stakeholders confidently, and has experience supporting the delivery of technical projects from requirement gathering through to testing, implementation and user support.
