About the position

DBN000298 – Tax Supervisor – Durban North
This role carries full accountability for the performance, quality, compliance and commercial outcomes of a team of six to twelve staff.
 
Required Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree or diploma in Accounting, Taxation or a related field. Tax technician certification or equivalent
  • BCom with a tax major, higher certificate in taxation, or formal tax certification. Actively pursuing further qualification is expected from this level upward
  • Minimum 2 to 3 years in a tax production role — personal or company. Demonstrated ability to prepare a high volume of returns accurately and within deadline.
  • Prior supervisory or mentorship experience preferred.
  • Expert-level eFiling proficiency required. Must be the most capable eFiling operator in the team — not just proficient.

Technical Competencies & Experience:

  • Tax Return Preparation — Volume and Accuracy
  • Deadline Management
  • eFiling — Expert Navigation
  • Handle client queries escalated from accountants in the team — resolving matters that fall beyond the accountant's technical scope or authority
  • Team Oversight — Clerks and Administrators
  • Plan and distribute the team's workload across active tax engagements — every return, every tracker, every deadline is assigned, scheduled and monitored
  • Answer procedural and process questions from clerks and administrators clearly and promptly — correct procedures, eFiling navigation, workflow protocols, Infinity updates and filing standards
  • Escalate all tax advice, client technical questions, disputed assessments, complex SARS queries and any matter requiring a tax opinion to the manager or partner immediately
  • Infinity Workflow Management
  • Ensure all documents, returns and correspondence are saved and filed in accordance with the firm's document management standard
  • Firm Policy Compliance
