About the position

Background:

  • Listed international manufacturing company is seeking a skilled Tax Planning and Compliance Analyst to join their Finance Team

Position Summary:

  • The Tax Planning and Compliance Analyst is responsible for ensuring full compliance with local tax regulations while aligning with global tax governance, policies, and strategic objectives
  • This role manages all local tax obligations, including statutory filings, tax incentives, transfer pricing documentation, tax planning, and corporate reorganizations, and collaborates closely with the headquarters International Tax management/team, being part of permanent communication and training
  • The position serves as the key tax contact within the country and contributes to global consistency and planning while contributing with mitigation of risk

Minimum Requirements:

  • BCom in Accounting / Taxation / Legal / Finance or Economics (or equivalent)
  • Postgraduate qualification in Tax (advantageous)
  • Professional Certification preferred (CPA)
  • 3+ years’ experience in local Tac Accounting Compliance and reporting role preferably within a manufacturing or  industrial environment
  • Knowledge of transfer pricing, tax incentives, tax planning and corporate reorganizations
  • Strong knowledge of South African Tax Legislation
  • Experience dealing directly with SARS
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in using tax technology and data reporting tools is a plus
  • Report direct to Local Finance/ Controlling Manager and Country CFO
  • Report indirect to Head Office / Global Controls and International Tax Manager as well as the Controlling Director

Responsibilities:

  • Local Compliance & Reporting
    • Ensure timely and accurate filing of all local tax returns and statutory reports (corporate income tax, VAT/GST, withholding taxes, etc.)
    • Maintain compliance with local tax laws and regulations, including monitoring legislative changes

    Global Alignment

    • Implement global tax policies and procedures at the local level
    • Provide data and documentation required for global tax reporting, transfer pricing, and incentives management
    • Support global tax audits and reviews as needed
    • Learning and updating process interfacing local application with global practice upon OECD guidelines and IFRS perspective

    Transfer Pricing

    • Prepare and maintain local transfer pricing documentation in compliance with OECD and local regulations
    • Coordinate with headquarters on intercompany transactions and pricing policies

    Tax Incentives

    • Identify and manage local tax incentives and credits, ensuring alignment with global strategy
    • Communicate opportunities and risks to Headquarters

    Tax Planning & Reorganization

    • Support local and global tax planning initiatives to optimize tax efficiency and mitigate risks
    • Assist in structuring and implementing corporate reorganizations, mergers, and acquisitions in compliance with local and global requirements
    • Provide input on business transactions to ensure tax implications are properly addressed

    Collaboration & Reporting

    • Report directly to the local Finance Manager (or equivalent) for country-specific matters
    • Maintain an indirect reporting relationship with the Headquarters Controls and International Tax Manager and being part of global tax team for governance, strategy, and escalation 
    • Participate in global tax meetings, training and initiatives
