About the position
Are you a tax professional with strong leadership skills and a passion for delivering expert tax advice? We are looking for an experienced Tax Manager to join our client based in Port Elizabeth on a permanent basis. This is an exciting opportunity to oversee the tax department, manage workflow, and provide high-quality tax consulting services to clients and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise the tax department, ensuring efficient workflow and quality output.
- Advise staff and clients on tax-related matters, including tax compliance, disputes, and consulting.
- Manage the completion and review of Income Tax Returns, Provisional Tax Returns, IT14SDs, and Tax Exemption applications.
- Oversee SARS-related processes, including dispute resolution, Tax Ombud complaints, objections, and appeals.
- Provide expert advice on tax legislation, including the Income Tax Act, Tax Administration Act, and VAT Act.
- Train and support tax staff, ensuring continuous professional development.
- Ensure compliance with SARS regulations, tax laws, and internal quality management policies.
- Conduct quality assurance on tax-related documents and maintain accurate tax records.
- Manage billing and tax administration using GreatSoft and SARS E-Filing.
- Liaise with SARS, clients, and other stakeholders to resolve tax matters efficiently.
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 with accounting as a subject.
- Relevant Tax qualification.
- Registered with the South African Institute of Taxation (SAIT)

- Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to research, interpret, and apply tax laws effectively.
- Excellent numeric and analytical skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook Express), GreatSoft, SARS E-Filing, and LexisNexis.
