Applicants must be able to work independently yet collaborate in a team to ensure clients accounting and tax needs are met satisfactorily

Applicants should have Great Soft systems experience but MUST have master level e filing experience with a strong attention to detail.

Duties & Responsibilities

This is not an exhaustive list but is a good indicaton of what our expectations are wrt to the knowledge and abilities of the applicant.

  • Completion and submission of the income tax returns for companies, trust, individuals and estate lates.
  • Provisional tax calculations and submissions for individuals, companies, close corporations and trusts.
  • Lodging disputes against SARS' incorrect assessments, i.e objections, appeals and remissions on income tax, VAT and PAYE.
  • Application for the cessation of residence or non-residency tax certificates.
  • Applications for Approval of International Transfers (AIT).
  • Completion and submission of DWT returns.
  • Applying for suspension of payments and payment arrangements.
  • Registrations for Income tax, VAT, PAYE, UIF, WCA and Customs
  • Complete deregistration application for income tax, VAT and PAYE.

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Tax Preparation and Filing: Preparing and filing various tax returns (individual, corporate, partnership, trusts, etc.) and ensuring timely submission to relevant authorities. overseeing general tax administration, maintaining e-Filing systems, and processing various tax returns such as ITR14/ITR12, provisional tax returns, VAT201, EMP201, and UIF submissions.

  • Tax Research and Compliance: Researching and interpreting tax laws and regulations, staying updated on changes, and ensuring compliance with all legal requirements.

  • Tax Planning and Advice: Providing expert advice to clients or companies on tax planning strategies to minimize tax burdens and optimize financial outcomes. checking and performing PAYE reconciliations and submissions (EMP501), ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations, and managing monthly tax submissions.

  • Financial Analysis and Reporting: Analyzing financial data, preparing tax reports (quarterly and annual), and developing forecasts on tax changes for management.

  • Audit Support: Assisting clients or internal departments during tax audits and resolving any tax-related disputes.

  • Database Management: Maintaining and managing the organization's tax database and ensuring accurate records. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records and documentation, preparing workpapers and schedules to support tax filings, and drafting financial reports.

  • Communication and Collaboration: Communicating with clients, stakeholders, and internal departments regarding tax matters and to ensure compliance with accounting policies and collaborating with other teams. Communicating with clients to gather necessary tax-related information and documentation, and responding to client queries and inquiries from tax authorities; Provide general support to senior tax accountants and managers.

  • Industry Trend Monitoring: Keeping track of industry trends and changes related to taxes.

Key Hard Skills ESSENTIAL FOR THIS POSITION

APPLICANTS MUST HAVE

  • Technology Skills: accounting software tools such as GREAT SOFT experience.
  • Tax Knowledge: relevant tax regulations and deadlines.
  • Tax Research: Even with strong knowledge of tax code, must be skilled at researching tax issues. This is because tax regulations change frequently
  • Accounting Standards: Thoroughly understand public accounting standards and best practices.

  • Critical Thinking skills to analyze problems and find effective solutions/ best solution for the company or client.
  • Relationship-building: Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients is an important part of a tax manager's role.
  • Attention to Detail: Tax managers often review documents including tax forms and financial records. They should have a keen eye for detail and be able to notice any errors in the numbers.
  • Communication Skills: Tax managers need to be able to communicate clearly with clients and collaborators. They should have strong written and verbal communication skills.
