Tail Lift Technician

About the position

Opportunity for a skilled Tail Lift Technician to join a national industry leader. Hands-on technical role with room for growth and field-based responsibilities.
Our client is a well-established company specialising in the supply, installation, and customisation of tail lift systems for the logistics and transport sector. 
This position is based at the Pinetown branch and involves diagnosing, repairing, and installing tail lift systems on commercial vehicles. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical and electrical background, with experience in hydraulics and pneumatics. The role includes workshop and fieldwork, with standby responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Diagnose faults and perform repairs on tail lift systems, including hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical components
• Install tail lifts and related equipment on new or existing vehicles
• Conduct routine servicing, inspections, and preventative maintenance
• Adhere to company safety procedures and maintain a clean working environment
• Use diagnostic tools and manuals for fault-finding and repair
• Support other workshop tasks as required
• Able to work alone / unsupervised

Requirements:

• Skilled in both mechanical and electrical systems (advantageous)
• Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics (advantageous)
• Proven ability to diagnose and repair vehicle equipment
• Ability to interpret technical diagrams and manuals
• Competence with power tools and welding (preferred)
• Own reliable transport to and from work
• Valid Code 8 driver’s license (non-negotiable)
• Willingness to work weekends, overtime, and stand-by shifts
• Company vehicle and phone provided for stand-by duty

Working Conditions:

• Workshop-based with field/mobile work/Stand-by.
• Overtime, weekend work, stand by.
• Company vehicle will be provided for Stand-by.
• Company Cell Phone will be provided.
• Own Car Required to get from and to work.
• Code 8 License is non-negotiable.

Remuneration:
R10 000 - R20 000 Based on experience
