About the position
My client in the mining industry is looking for a Tactics Planner to join their team based in Kathu, for a (30 months) contract.
Reporting to the Manager for Operational Readiness, the successful incumbent will be responsible for specifying the requirements to manage tasks, improve asset performance, maintain systems, and build relationships through effective planning and communication.
Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Safety and Health
- Consistently apply Safety and health principles in all team interactions and take personal responsibility for the safety of self and others to ensure zero harm and elimination of fatalities. o Function as a role model and support a workplace culture where safety and health for the site are paramount.
- Support an environment for team members to challenge and act on unsafe behaviours without repercussions.
- Active participation in SLAMs, HPHs, relevant Risk Assessments and close-out of Safety Actions.
Performance and Delivery
Effective/ efficient work management (Daily):
- Capture equipment structures and develop maintenance plans on the SAP system.
- Investigate maintenance plans to ensure they have the right tactics, BOM, resources, text field, and planned hours to perform tasks correctly.
- Facilitate work sessions with OEM to optimise maintenance plans.
- Investigate actual versus planned costs for all service plans to improve the accuracy of plans.
- Update maintenance plans according to RCA decisions.
- Assist with ad hoc project planning.
- Process data and reports.
- Provide advice and guidance to the planning office regarding processes, best practices, research, etc. Asset Optimisation:
- Ensure effective and timely communication with relevant stakeholders and effective planning for all outstanding manufacturing by compiling reports.
- Identify and analyse performance gaps, prioritise, develop, and execute improved maintenance plans, and monitor and report value enhancement by benchmarking.
- Optimise maintenance plans by facilitating work sessions with OEMs.
- Investigate actual versus planned costs for all service plans to improve the accuracy of plans.
- Retrieve reports from master data to determine when the equipment's coupling was last opened/cleaned and identify equipment without a task/master data history per equipment.
System and Schedule Maintenance:
- Monitor and update equipment/spares/manufacturing budget and systems to ensure accurate recommendations are made based on reliable backup information.
- Obtain manufacturing schedules and information on completed tasks to determine person-hours and costs on specific tasks, monitor progress and deviations, enable effective task planning, and maximise resource availability and performance.
- Assist with ad hoc project planning.
- Synchronize labelling of equipment according to SAP standards.
- Assist the planning department in ensuring that the correct processes have been followed, such as the Reco process.
- Continuously update or create new SAP maintenance plans according to the latest RCM or outcome of RCA analysis.
- Create new master data in SAP when needed and maintain the existing master data.
Stakeholder Relationship Management:
- Build, manage and maintain healthy relations with stakeholders to assist in achieving sectional goals.
- Provide relevant and specialised technical support and input for operations and projects by liaising with stakeholders.
- Communicate all relevant information accurately and on time to the supervisor.
- Optimise and identify any risks within the execution schedule by attending the Weekly formal Draft schedule review meeting.
- Ensure schedule compliance and reconciliation, and address deviations every week.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12/ N3 Technical
- Relevant Higher National Qualification on NQF5 (Engineering field)
- Trade Test Certificate in the Engineering discipline
- SA Drivers Licence
Technical Knowledge
- 3-5 years of relevant planning experience in the mining industry.
- Key value drivers within the discipline's value chain and interdependence of critical levers.
- Principles of how operational processes are classified according to the Operating Model, focusing on Work Management.
- Real-time problem-solving tools and techniques.
- Business acumen and commercial drivers of the discipline schedule.
- Basic financial metrics.
- Operational Risk management techniques and critical controls.
- Safety, health and environment, legislative, statutory, and regulatory requirements.
Technical Skills
- Work methods to ensure productive and safe work and achieve plans.
- Real-time problem-solving of performance gaps in the scheduling process.
- Execute work packages in the discipline.
- Contract management for suppliers within the discipline.
- Data analysis and problem-solving for discipline-related decision-making on the schedule.
- Supporting a culture within the discipline in which safety and health are paramount, resulting in zero fatalities.
