Minimum Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in system engineering, specifically with UNIX and Solaris
• Connect:Direct Experience: Demonstrated experience in administering and managing Connect:Direct or similar file transfer technologies.
• Proficiency in UNIX and Solaris systems administration.
• UNIX/Solaris Certifications: Certifications such as Solaris Certified Systems Administrator or UNIX System Administration certifications.
• Networking Certifications: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or similar networking certifications
• Understanding of networking fundamentals and security protocols.
• Scripting skills (e.g., Shell, Perl) for automation tasks.
• Familiarity with backup and recovery solutions.

Overview of duties

System Administration
Manage and maintain UNIX and Solaris operating systems.
Perform regular system updates and patches to ensure security and stability.
Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.

Connect:Direct Management
Administer and configure Connect:Direct (formerly known as NDM) for file transfer operations.
Implement automation scripts to facilitate scheduled and on-demand file transfers.

User and Access Management
Manage user accounts, roles, and permissions to ensure appropriate access controls.
Monitor access logs and maintain compliance with security policies.

Backup and Recovery
Develop and execute backup and recovery plans for critical data and applications.
Test recovery processes to ensure data integrity and availability.

Performance Tuning
Analyze system performance metrics and make recommendations for improvements.
Optimize system configurations to enhance throughput and reduce latency.

Documentation and Reporting
Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
Generate reports on system performance, file transfers, and security logs.

Collaboration and Support
Work with cross-functional teams to support application deployments and integrations.
Provide technical support and guidance to users regarding system-related issues.

Security Management
Implement security measures to protect systems against unauthorized access and vulnerabilities.
Regularly review and update firewall and access control configurations.

Vendor Interaction
Coordinate with hardware and software vendors for support and maintenance issues.
Evaluate new tools and technologies that can improve system management.

Incident Response
Respond quickly to system outages or breaches and troubleshoot root causes.
Develop and implement incident response plans to mitigate future risks.
