About the Role
Milkor Integrated Systems is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to join our engineering team in developing and integrating advanced defence and aerospace technologies. The Systems Engineer will play a critical role in designing, analysing, and validating complex systems across multiple disciplines, ensuring performance, reliability, and compliance with industry standards.
This role requires a strong understanding of systems engineering principles and the ability to collaborate effectively across software, hardware, and mechanical teams to deliver integrated, high-performance solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct requirements analysis and translate operational needs into detailed system specifications
- Develop and maintain system architectures and designs for complex aerospace and defence systems
- Perform systems integration, testing, and validation to ensure performance and compliance with standards
- Manage system lifecycles including design, development, verification, and ongoing support
- Develop technical documentation such as system designs, test procedures, and user manuals
- Participate in design and technical reviews, identifying potential risks and proposing mitigation solutions
- Interface with internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, project managers, and customers
- Ensure compliance with applicable industry and defence standards and regulations
- Support system upgrades and provide troubleshooting expertise
- Contribute to risk analysis and mitigation planning throughout the system development process
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electronic or Software Engineering, NQF Level 8 or higher
- 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, preferably in the aerospace or defence industry
- Proficiency in systems engineering tools (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink, DOORS)
- Strong knowledge of systems engineering methodologies, tools, and standards
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-security environment
- Must be eligible for security clearance as required by defence regulations
- Willingness to travel occasionally for customer meetings or on-site integration activities
- Own transport and a valid driver's license required
