About the position
Our client is seeking an experienced Unit Manager to lead the Surgical and Emergency Units at a private hospital in the Eastern Cape. This opportunity is ideal for a dynamic nursing leader with strong clinical expertise, excellent leadership abilities, and a passion for delivering outstanding patient care while driving operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide effective leadership and operational management of the Surgical and Emergency Units
- Ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care in accordance with clinical standards
- Lead, mentor, and develop the nursing team to achieve optimal performance
- Coordinate patient care and promote effective multidisciplinary collaboration
- Monitor clinical governance, infection prevention, and quality improvement initiatives
- Assist with financial, stock, and resource management within the units
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, legislation, and professional standards
Minimum Requirements:
- Degree or Diploma in Nursing
- Postgraduate Diploma or Degree in Emergency Nursing (mandatory)
- Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
- Relevant nursing experience to meet the critical outputs of the role
- Proven leadership and people management skills will be advantageous
- Basic understanding of labour legislation, financial management, and supply chain management principles
- Understanding of the private healthcare industry, its challenges, and key role players will be advantageous
- Computer proficiency
- Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel
