About the position

Our client is a growing agri-processing and food manufacturing organisation based in Gauteng, currently expanding operations through the development of a new malthouse facility in the Sedibeng region. They are seeking an experienced and well-connected Supply Chain Manager with a strong focus on community engagement, stakeholder relations, B-BBEE procurement, and local economic development.
This is a unique and highly impactful role that bridges supply chain management with community-facing responsibilities, reporting directly to the Managing Director. The successful candidate will play a critical role during both the construction phase and the operational phase of the facility, ensuring that local procurement, SMME participation, and stakeholder relationships are managed professionally, transparently, and in alignment with the organisation's long-term strategy.
The Supply Chain Manager: Community Engagement & Stakeholder Relations will be responsible for supporting and managing key components of the supply chain function, with a specific focus on local procurement, supplier coordination, B-BBEE procurement, SMME participation, community engagement, CSI, and stakeholder relationship management.
During the construction phase, the role will coordinate local procurement, SMME visibility, supplier database management, stakeholder communication, and community-related matters. Once operational, the role will progressively support the broader supply chain function including procurement administration, supplier management, logistics follow-up, B-BBEE procurement tracking, CSI coordination, and board-level reporting support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supply Chain Coordination & Procurement Support

  • Support the development and implementation of procurement and supply chain processes for the facility.
  • Coordinate supplier information, procurement documentation, quotations, purchase order follow-ups, and delivery administration.
  • Collaborate with finance, project, technical, agriculture, and operations teams on procurement and supply chain requirements.
  • Support supplier onboarding, including company documentation, tax compliance, B-BBEE information, safety requirements, and banking details.
  • Support the preparation of procurement and supply chain reports for management.

  • Local Procurement & Supplier Coordination

  • Develop and maintain a structured database of local suppliers, SMMEs, plant hire providers, and service providers.
  • Identify local procurement opportunities across plant hire, minor works, cleaning, catering, security, waste management, transport, maintenance, and consumables.
  • Support the assessment of local supplier capability, compliance readiness, and suitability for specific opportunities.
  • Ensure local procurement is managed transparently and in line with business requirements around safety, quality, cost, and compliance.

  • B-BBEE & Preferential Procurement

  • Support the organisation's B-BBEE strategy from a procurement and supplier development perspective.
  • Assist in identifying B-BBEE-compliant suppliers, black-owned businesses, women-owned businesses, and qualifying SMMEs.
  • Track local and B-BBEE supplier information for reporting and verification purposes.
  • Support enterprise and supplier development initiatives to improve SMME readiness.

  • Community Engagement, Stakeholder Relations & Shareholder Interface

  • Manage relationships with local stakeholders linked to procurement, SMME participation, local labour, CSI, and local economic participation.
  • Act as a key interface between the organisation and local stakeholders, including Midvaal Municipality, community representatives, ward structures, local businesses, and the future B-BBEE partner.
  • Support the Managing Director in managing relationships with the future B-BBEE shareholder on matters linked to local procurement, CSI, SMME participation, and community engagement.
  • Prepare structured updates, reports, and briefing notes for management and board-level discussions.
  • Ensure stakeholder communication is coordinated, consistent, and properly documented.

  • SMME Participation & Local Economic Development

  • Support identification of local SMMEs relevant to construction-phase and operational-phase opportunities.
  • Assist local suppliers and SMMEs in understanding documentation, safety, compliance, and administrative requirements.
  • Maintain clear records of SMME engagement, supplier submissions, opportunities identified, and outcomes.

  • CSI & Community Development

  • Coordinate CSI initiatives linked to the facility and surrounding communities.
  • Support identification of CSI projects aligned with the organisation's values, community needs, and long-term local presence.
  • Maintain records of CSI proposals, approvals, beneficiaries, spend, and outcomes.

  • Reporting, Compliance & Board-Level Support

  • Maintain proper records of supplier databases, procurement documents, stakeholder engagements, CSI initiatives, and action plans.
  • Prepare reports, dashboards, briefing notes, meeting minutes, and follow-up trackers.
  • Support the Managing Director with shareholder and board-level updates on local procurement, B-BBEE, SMME participation, and stakeholder matters.
  • Ensure all activities are managed with transparency, professionalism, integrity, and business discipline.
