Supervisor Cook (24 months contract) at NRF National Research Foundation

About the position

iThemba LABS seeks to appoint Supervisor Cooks who will be responsible for supervision of production, sales, customer service, asset control, quality control, safe standard operating procedures, health, hygiene and PPE, performance, procurement, stock control and waste prevention at the onsite cafeteria..

The incumbent will also be responsible for debtors and creditors account maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Menu, recipe and production planning and delegation of duties
• Supervision of production, sales and customer service
• Supervision of asset maintenance and control
• Supervision of quality control measures, implementation and adherence
• Ensure a safe working environment and adherence to safe standard operating proceduresSupervision of health, hygiene and PPE of food handlers according to procedure
• Contribute to performance management processes for subordinatesResponsible for procurement, stock control and waste prevention
• Ensure cleanliness, sanitation and organization of all canteen areas according to regulations and procedures
• Adhere to policies and procedures determined by the company
• Operate and master point of sales terminal dutiesLiaise with suppliers and customers
• Responsible for all filing both manual and electronicResponsible for debtors and creditors account maintenance
• Capture inventory data on back-office software and statistics in Excel.

Minimum Qualification:

• Grade 12 / Senior Certificate / National Certificate / Vocational 4 /N3 N4 N5/ NQF 4
• Computer literate
• Code 08 drivers licence (advantageous)

Experience:

• 5 years in foodservice industry
• 2 years supervisory experience in foodservice industry

Knowledge:

• Numeric knowledge to be able to compare units and pricing, calculate order amounts, record stock issues and counts in metrics,receiving and checking of goods, conduct cashier duties
• Basic knowledge of good storage practices to prevent cross-contamination, prevent waste and maintain a high level of cleanlinessand safety in work environment
• Basic knowledge of cooking theory and practice, food safety and hygiene and safety in the kitchen will be beneficial
