Structural Mechanical Engineer

About the position

Our client, a top South African Commercial Solar Solutions company is looking for a qualified and experienced individual to join their team!

Requirements:

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Valid Driver's License with own car
• 3-5yrs mechanical engineering experience in a similar industry is required
• Proficiency in CAD Software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor)

Responsibilities:

• Design and Development:
• Develop and refine designs for mechanical components, systems, and products.
• Create detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings and models.
• Conduct feasibility studies, design reviews, and prototype testing.
• Ensure designs meet functional requirements, industry standards, and project specifications.
• Optimize designs for manufacturability, durability, and performance.

• Collaboration and Communication:
• Work closely with engineers and other designers (electrical)
• Communicate design concepts and solutions effectively.
• Liaise with suppliers and customers on design-related matters.

• Technical Skills:
• Knowledge of mechanical principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to interpret conceptual drawings, technical drawings and specifications.

• Project Management:
• Manage design tasks within project timelines and budgets.
• Ensure adherence to company standards and procedures.
• Contribute to the successful completion of projects.

• Other responsibilities:
• Preparing and maintaining bills of materials.
• Compiling costing where required or liaising with Suppliers for accurate costing.
• Product data management.
• Supporting the day-to-day activities of customers.
• Interfacing with suppliers and purchasing.
• Interfacing with Professional Engineering resources
