Structural Engineer

About the position

A well-established engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced and technically strong Structural Engineer to join their team. This opportunity is ideal for a driven professional with a solid background in structural analysis and design who enjoys working on a variety of structural and infrastructure projects within a collaborative and professional environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for structural design, analysis, project coordination, and technical support across reinforced concrete and steel structures while ensuring compliance with industry standards and engineering best practices.

Responsibilities:

Structural Design & Analysis:

• Perform structural analysis and design for reinforced concrete and steel structures.
• Prepare detailed structural calculations, technical drawings, and engineering reports.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant building codes, standards, and safety requirements.
• Review and coordinate structural designs with multidisciplinary project teams.
• Assist with technical problem-solving and design optimisation.

Project Coordination & Technical Support:

• Collaborate with engineers, architects, contractors, and project stakeholders.
• Provide technical support during project planning and construction phases.
• Conduct site inspections and ensure structural work aligns with approved designs and specifications.
• Assist with project documentation and technical submissions.

Requirements:

• 5-10 years post-graduate experience within structural engineering.
• BEng, BSc Engineering, or BTech qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering will be advantageous.
• Strong experience in structural analysis and design of reinforced concrete and steel structures.
• Proficient in:
• Tekla Structural Designer
• Prokon
• AutoCAD
• Revit
• Experience working with Eurocodes will be beneficial.
• Fluent in Afrikaans and English.
