Structural Draftsman / Technician

About the position

Our client is a well-established consulting engineering firm specialising in the delivery of innovative and practical engineering solutions across a diverse range of projects within the built environment. They are seeking an experienced Structural Draughtsman / Technician to join their Durbanville team. This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects while collaborating closely with engineers, architects, and other industry professionals in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Responsibilities:

Structural Draughting & Modelling

• Prepare and develop accurate structural drawings and models for various projects.
• Produce detailed 2D and 3D drawings using industry-standard software.
• Assist with conceptual layouts and preliminary design development.
• Ensure drawings are prepared in accordance with project requirements and relevant standards.

Project Coordination

• Manage and assist in delivering project requirements within agreed timelines.
• Coordinate with engineers and other members of the professional team to ensure seamless project execution.
• Manage drawing revisions, updates, and document control processes.
• Issue drawings and maintain accurate drawing registers and project records.

Site & Technical Support

• Conduct site visits to verify existing conditions and dimensions where required.
• Assist with site inspections and prepare technical reports as needed.
• Ensure drawings accurately reflect site conditions and project requirements.
• Provide technical support during project implementation and construction phases.

Quality & Compliance

• Ensure all drawings comply with applicable industry standards, regulations, and project specifications.
• Identify and resolve drafting-related issues and coordinate necessary changes.
• Contribute to maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy across all deliverables

Requirements:

• Minimum of 3-5 years experience in structural draughting.
• Proficiency in preparing structural drawings using both 2D and 3D software.
• Site experience will be advantageous.
• Sound understanding of industry standards, regulations, and codes relating to structural projects.
• Experience working within a consulting engineering environment will be beneficial.
• Experience with Revit AutoCAD, Padds / AutoPadds is essential.
