About the position

Introduction

The position of Strategy Planning Analyst is vacant. The Strategy Planning Analyst will report directly to the Strategy Specialist: Planning and Analysis and forms part of the Office of the Principal Officer Division. The position is based at Head Office in Pretoria.

The Total remuneration package for this position is between R611,123 and R763,835 per annum dependent on experience and skills.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Strategy Planning Analyst will be required to perform the following functions within the Office of the Principal Officer under the supervision of the Strategy Specialist: Planning and Analysis:

  • Research and analyse market trends, healthcare industry developments, and competitor activities to provide strategic insights.
  • Assist in scenario planning, forecasting, and modelling to support data-driven decision-making and competitive intelligence.
  • Support the translation of strategic objectives into measurable actions and ensure alignment with Universal Health Coverage (UHC) goals.
  • Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of the GEMS strategy to ensure sustainability and alignment with organisational goals.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align divisional plans and operational projects with the overall Scheme strategy.
  • Support the management of strategy-related projects, including innovation and sustainability initiatives, ensuring effective execution and impact.
  • Provide data-driven insights in the preparation of reports, presentations, and briefing documents on strategic initiatives and governance matters.
  • Assist in aligning strategic initiatives with the Project Management Office (PMO) and Business Optimisation (BO) to enhance operational efficiency and execution.
  • Promote innovation and continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance strategic planning and execution.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Qualification requirements are:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Strategy, Business Management, Health Economics, Data Analytics, or related field.
  • 2-3 years of experience in strategy planning, business analysis, or market research related role.

Skills:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data for decision-making and translate insights into strategic recommendations.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality in research, reporting, and strategy management.
  • Strategy and Management consulting experience would be an added advantage
  • Above average proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal and time management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks and deliverables under tight deadlines.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and own vehicle and be willing to travel at short notice.

Behavioural Competencies:
  • Good exposure to strategy development and implementation.
  • Experience in risk assessment and strategic governance.
  • High level of attention to detail and critical thinking ability.
  • Track record of strategy management.
  • Understanding of policy environment and experience in forming policy-oriented relationships.
  • High-level understanding of strategic communications.
  • Demonstrable capability for strategic thinking.
  • Commitment to working in the not-for-profit sector.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Displays original thinking and creative decisions in developing strategies and operational plans that clearly reflect the company's vision.

Desirable:
  • Understanding of the medical schemes industry.
