About the position

Purpose of this role: To buy products for the company and ensure that administration is correctly carried out.

Job specifications will include the following:

Promotions and Deals
Ensure that the lines selected will attract customers while ensuring margin is profitable.
Ensure that promotions are prepared, sent to the printers and loaded on the system
Manage supplier cyclical or ad hoc deals including seasonal trends or themes
Price promotion ranges taking into account inter alia competitor activity, price increases, stock levels and availability.
Monitor stock holding, sales and margin on promotion lines and take corrective measures as needed
Ensure the store is in stock of all promotion lines throughout the promotion period [unless it is on the line that is being cleared]
Draw accurate profit and loss reports during and after the promotions
Negotiate regular cyclical deals as well as ad hoc deals with suppliers on specific items, where needed
Decide on whether deals will apply to all stores or specific stores and complete accurately complete the deal sheet, capture onto system and communicate accordingly to stores and other stakeholders.
Obtain, analyse and capture opposition promotional leaflets, pamphlets and booklets as well as any other additional information. Respond accordingly

Interbranch Communication
Communicate relevant information to store managers and relevant staff timeously, this includes but not limited to special deals, stock required from suppliers
Inform business store of national deals and where stock can be allocated to them depending on stock sales.
Send prep for the national catalogue to all stores.
Arrange for delivery of stock to the store and assist with pricing and merchandising standards where needed.

In-store range and replenishment
Decide on range and compare supplier's product offerings, choose what is best suited for your market and buy accordingly
Regularly review range by monitoring product performance to identify fast/slow/dead stock
Conduct quarterly range reviews with suppliers to agree on discontinued lines, new listings, space allocations, merchandising techniques
Place replenishment orders according to model stock levels
If new products are available from suppliers, choose products that would be appropriate for the company's market and negotiate best prices.
List new products with pricing code on the listing sheet and system. Send to all branches and place orders with volumes in line with model stock limits.
Agree on appropriate terms for new products with suppliers. These are usually applied for about 3 months.
Agree with the supplier that all remaining stock in cases of seasonal stock will be returned to the supplier

Reconciliations
Check financial documents from the stores/business units for relevant signatures, VAT breakdowns, allocations and any other factors as determined by the role
Assist with creditors payments as needed as per required standards

Shrinkage and breakage control
Escalate identified problems to relevant manager
Report suspicious occurrences or people to management and security personnel

Requirements:

  • Relevant education and /or experience in in-store support in a similar environment in a related role.

Desired Work Experience:

  • 5 to 10 years FMCG
  • 5 to 10 years Purchasing & Procurement

Desired Qualification Level:

  • Grade 12 / Matric
