Job Title: Stock Controller

Location: Westmead, Pinetown, Durban
Employment Type: Fixed-Term Contract – 1 to 6 Months, with option to renew by agreement
Working Hours: 07:30 to 16:30 | On Site
Salary: R8,000 CTC neg, depending on experience

Our client, an established manufacturing company, is seeking a practical and detail-focused Stock Controller to improve the control and accuracy of raw materials and finished goods. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate stock records, tracking stock movements through production and ensuring materials and finished goods can be located when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Check and record receipts, material issues, transfers, partial-roll returns, finished-goods receipts and dispatches against relevant supporting documentation.
• Maintain accurate item codes, bin locations, batch details and units of measure, ensuring available, quarantined and scrap stock are clearly identified.
• Conduct cycle counts and stocktakes, investigate discrepancies and reconcile stock records with production and finance.
• Track raw materials, work-in-progress and finished goods, including customer-specific stock and partially used rolls.
• Report shortages, slow-moving items, obsolete stock and recurring recording errors, and follow up on corrective actions.
• Ensure agreed receiving, storage and dispatch procedures are followed and obtain the required approval before stock adjustments or write-offs.

Minimum Requirements

• Proven practical stock control / inventory control experience.
• Experience within a manufacturing, printing or packaging environment will be advantageous.
• Confident using Microsoft Excel and stock or inventory management software.
• Strong data capture and reconciliation skills.
• Ability to work with different units of measure and investigate stock discrepancies systematically.
• Good understanding of receiving, stock movement, storage and dispatch processes.
• Ability to work on both the factory floor and stores/warehouse environment.
• Good communication and follow-up skills.
• Reliable, organised and able to work accurately under pressure.

What We Are Looking For
We are looking for a practical, reliable and detail-focused Stock Controller who can maintain accurate stock records and ensure all stock movements are properly recorded and traceable.
The successful candidate must be comfortable working closely with production, stores and finance, investigating stock discrepancies and following through until issues are resolved. Experience with raw materials, work-in-progress, finished goods and partially used rolls will be advantageous.
Success in the role will mean trustworthy stock records, traceable stock movements and stock differences that are investigated and resolved promptly.
Agreed objectives and structured performance reviews will form part of the appointment.

What is on Offer

• Salary of R8,000 CTC neg, depending on experience.
